We have come to the end of what has been a very busy half-term at the academy.
GCSE and A Level exams are now well underway and will continue after the half-term break. Students have really risen to the challenge, arriving well-prepared and ready to do their best. We are very proud of them all.
We have also continued to provide subject specific exam preparation lessons to ensure that students are as prepared as possible for their next exam, and these have been well-received by students.
There will be revision sessions running over the half-term break – you and your child will already have been notified of these if they have been invited to attend. I would like to thank the staff that have agreed to give up their time to deliver these valuable sessions to our students.
This is also the crucial recruitment season for schools, with the resignation deadline for teaching staff on 31st May. We have been working hard to recruit the highest calibre of staff for September, and look forward to updating you on the new additions to our school in due course.
I am delighted to be able to inform you that Year 10 student, Amelie Shearer has been elected as secretary for the Southern Region of Ormiston Academies Trusts’ Student Voice group and therefore also becomes a member of the National Student Voice. She gave a wonderful speech on Wednesday and students from across the region voted her as their secretary. Well done Amelie.
Today marked the official leaving date for our Year 13 students. We held a celebration event in honour of their hard work and achievements over the past seven years. This included fun activities, speeches and many awards. We wish them every success, not only in their eventual examination outcomes, but also in their chosen future journeys.
It only remains to wish you all a lovely, relaxing half-term break. I hope you all enjoy the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee; however you choose to mark it, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 6th June.
