Year 6 Transition Hub

Welcome to our Ormiston Rivers Academy Year 6 transition hub.

Dear Year 6 students,

My name is Mr Marklew and I will be helping you with your transition from your school to our school.  I have been at Rivers for 7 years and will know lots of the students that you may already know here. 

We want to make the move to secondary school as smooth as possible – I know that this can be an exciting time but also one that you may be nervous about. 

I will be coming to your schools to meet with your class teachers soon.  I can find out all about you and I will also say hello to you!  I hope to bring the Head of Year 7 and the SENCo with me to say hello too. 

We look forward to inviting you to Ormiston Rivers for your trial day.  This will give you the chance to see how our secondary school works: how it is like your school and different in many ways.  I will introduce you to some of our teachers and ask our students to be your tour guides on the day. 

I will also meet with your parents/carers to discuss how to help prepare you for secondary school and give them information about our school.  There will be a chance to buy your new school uniform soon too. 

For now, I wish you all the best in your SATs and look forward to hearing about your end of Primary school celebrations, trips and shows!

A Warm Welcome from your new Principal

Dear Year 6 students,

The staff and I are really looking forward to meeting you on your first day here in September. We can’t wait to welcome you all and share with you all the things that we love about our school.

We know that you will be excited and perhaps a bit nervous about the change ahead, but don’t worry we have designed a ‘transition hub’ especially for you!

You will find lots of information and challenges here which we hope will interest and inspire you.

You are starting a journey which we will take together with you over the next 5 or even 7 years.

We also look forward to seeing you in person during your transition here in June and then again at the start of the new school year.
