Careers Programme

At Ormiston Rivers Academy, we are passionate about ensuring we provide our students with as much careers guidance as possible to enable them to make excellent decisions for bright futures.

We offer high quality, impartial careers guidance that helps pupils to make informed choices about which courses suit their academic needs and aspirations. The academy is committed to Careers Education as a vital means of giving all students the skills, knowledge and understanding to manage their own lifelong learning and career development.

Careers Education prepares all students for the opportunities responsibilities and experiences of education, training and employment and also the challenges of adult life. Careers Education is embedded across all subjects in the curriculum as well as being a part of the Tutor Time Programme. All students from years 7 to 13 at Ormiston Rivers Academy are entitled to a full programme of Careers Education. This is delivered through weekly Tutor time activity along with a range of activities targeted at specific year groups and students, including: work shadowing days for Year 7,8, 9 and 10 students, a week of work experience for Year 10 and 12, Mock Job Interviews for Year 11 and 12 students, Targeted Careers Talks, Team Building and Skills Days with the British Army and Royal Navy, Careers Information Assemblies, Apprenticeship and University Talks Year 11 -13
