Miss Sametz has an Honours Bachelor degree in Physical and Health Education and a Bachelor of Education. She worked through these qualifications in beautiful Canada, at the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario. Throughout her time there, she became a snowshoe and canoeing enthusiast, while chasing waterfalls.
Miss Sametz was Achievement Director of Year 11 in the last academic year, but will be now working with Mrs Wilkins as Heads of Sixth Form. This will allow her to take the knowledge and rapport she has made with our Year 12 cohort, to help ease the transition into Key Stage 5. She will be assisting the Sixth Form team and teachers to deliver high quality education to Year 12 and 13, alongside providing enrichment activities and knowledge in how to apply to UCAS and prepare for life after Sixth Form.
Outside of school, Miss Sametz can be found gardening in her backyard or baking cakes to fulfill her sweet tooth. Her favourite sweet is a Boost Bar!
Mrs Wilkins has a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Drama and Performing Arts from the University of East London.
During her time at the Academy she has led the Sixth Form for 3 years as Assistant Head of Sixth Form and for the last year as Head of Sixth Form. She has worked at creating an academic, student focused Sixth Form where students are able to be independent young adults whilst giving the opportunities to take on whole school roles and responsibilities. She is now looking forward to working alongside Miss Sametz to develop the progress and well-being across the Sixth Form.
Mrs Wilkins has a range of experience dealing with academic progress, pastoral care and enrichment activities; as well as overseeing all university applications and the transition to Higher Education or Careers. She enjoys working with the Sixth Form team who pride themselves on the level of care and support provided to every individual and she takes time to get to know each student’s interests, needs and aspirations. She believes this uniquely personal approach is a major factor in many students choosing to attend Rivers Sixth Form.Mrs Wilkins is passionate about all aspects of the Performing Arts and works with many students to develop their confidence and inspire them to reach their goals which is reinforced in her efforts to push students to their full potential. In her free time she loves to travel, attend the theatre, socialise and take part in sporting activities including skiing, dancing and swimming.
Ms Head is the ever present member of our team that is always on hand everyday to support our students with any and all issues and challenges as they arise. She has a huge mountain of UCAS knowledge and is our 'go to' person for our sixth formers as she is always available in our sixth form areas when others in the team may be teaching.
